The Securus Group maintains its own state-certified training school here in Jacksonville. We utilize a curriculum certified by the Florida Division of Licensing and the Florida Department of Education. Our Training School offers courses that meet the requirements of the 40-hour security officer training program so students can get their Class D Security Officer License. We also offer gun training courses so students are able to obtain their Statewide Firearms License (Class G license) and their Florida Concealed Weapons Permit. Security Officer Class D Course (Complete 40-hour Program) Cost: $89.99
The State of Florida requires a total of 40-hours of instruction for Class "D" license training. At The Securus Group, we offer the 40-hours of Class "D" training over a 5-day period in the classroom. The program runs Monday through Friday every week starting at 8 a.m. and includes all information required by the State of Florida for initial license applicants. The course topics include Florida State Statutes Section 493, legal issues and liabilities, basic First Aid, fire suppression, emergency procedures, crime & accident prevention, professional communications, terrorism awareness, ethics and professional conduct, patrol techniques, observation techniques & report writing, interview techniques and other required topics. Armed Security Officer Class G Course (28-hour Program) Cost: $150.00
In accordance with Florida Chapter 493, Class "G" licensed armed security officers are required to complete 28-hours of classroom and range instruction under the direction of a Class "K" licensed instructor. The Securus Group offers Class "G" license training as a five day course held every other week. Days one through four are conducted as 5-hour classroom days at our training facility. Day five includes 8-hours of range instruction at a gun range. Note: Class G licensed officers must also possess a class D license.

Armed Security Officer Requalification Course (4-hour Program) Cost: $69.99
The State of Florida requires that all Florida License G" Armed Security Officers must requalify at least once per year with the type of handgun that they carry on duty. The Securus Group provides annual Class "G" refresher training and requalification every other week. Students that successfully requalify will be given proof of requalification to provide to the State to maintain their Class "G" license. This course is taught every other Friday.

Concealed Weapons Course (3-hour Program) Cost: $25.00
This course is designed to teach the layperson the complicated laws regarding carrying a concealed handgun and how those laws pertain to their rights to own and carry a weapon. It will teach the student about Florida State laws and that knowledge will help you stay safe. This course does not provide extensive weapons or tactical training. Classes are held throughout the week.

Firearms and Equipment
The Florida Armed Security Officer course requires the use of a .38 revolver, .357 revolver, or 9mm semi-automatic pistol. Students possessing their own firearm may use them on the range, however, do not bring them into the classroom. Those students wishing to qualify with both a semi-automatic and a revolver will have to pay an additional cost. All firearms needed for the classroom component will be provided by The Securus Group. If you are bringing a handgun to the range on "range day", the weapon should be brought to the range unloaded and encased. Please have a holster that fits the handgun. All student-brought weapons will be subjected to a safety inspection prior to live fire.
